10 Sep 2004 >> POPS AND RUBBERS
HEROIC deeds are just all in a day's work for newly solo popstar Brian McFadden.

The singer-turned-crime-fighter rugby-tackled a thief to the ground when he mugged a tourist.

The ex-Westlifer gave chase through the streets of London's Soho after the crook made off with a German tourist's handbag. (Read More ...)

10 Sep 2004 >> Westlife's and Brian's new CDs
Important news from the news editor:
It has been rumoured that Brian McFadden will go head-to-head with his former band mates in Westlife where their new albums are concerned. However, this is not true. The truth is that Westlife's new album is set to be out on the 8th of November, and Brian's debut solo album will be in the music stores on the 22nd of November. It has been confirmed that this is the truth, and if anyone is wanting to know why this is the real truth, then here's the story: I got to know that BMG and Sony will merge into one record company, meaning that a common release is practically impossible.
The site on which this news was first provided, is currently on hiatus due to server problems, but I promise to get back to it as soon as possible.

9 Sep 2004 >> McFadden: Westlife Song with Carey was 'A Shambles'
Former WESTLIFE singer BRIAN McFADDEN has slammed the boyband's collaboration with MARIAH CAREY as 'a shambles'.

McFadden, who left the Irish group earlier this year (04) to pursue a solo career, believes musicians should only ever team up to record a track together if the moment is right.

And the 24-year-old star still cringes at the memory of Westlife and Carey's cover of PHIL COLLINS' AGAINST ALL ODDS.

He says, 'I don't think collaborations should ever be pre-planned. When Westlife did it with Mariah Carey it ended up being a shambles.

'The best collaborations are when you just realise it should be one and it just happens.'

5 Sep 2004 >> McFadden broke down during Westlife split
Ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden has admitted that he was breaking down during his final days with the band.

"I just broke down," he told the News of the World. "I was drinking heavily towards the end of my days with the band and I wasn't happy.

"All I wanted to do was quit and get my life back. I remember days after I left sitting in Dublin's Four Seasons Hotel and crying.

"I didn't know what the hell was going on in my head. I was just sitting on the floor, holding my knees and rocking.

"There were tears rolling down my face and I thought s***, I'm here having some sort of breakdown."

However, Brian reveals that it was the support of his wife, Kerry, that got him back on track.

His debut solo single, Real To Me, is released tomorrow.
