Brian McFadden says he's not bothered at the prospect of going head-to-head with his old band in the album charts.

His debut solo single 'Real to Me' is out today - it's up against new releases from The Music and Estelle. Find out how it does on The UK's Official Chart with Wes on Sunday.

It's been reported that Westlife have barely spoken to him since his departure but Brian told Radio 1 that's nonsense, they still hang out and go to dinner regularly and if they beat him to number one, he won't be surprised:

"I don't mind the fact that we're out the same day, because I'm never going to be expecting to get a number one album because it's only my first album, so it's going to take time hopefully for people to get used to my music and stuff."

"Westlife are, you know, they're a massive band and their album's going to go straight to number one. It's not that, that bothers me. The media are just going to have a field day and try and say that this has caused us to split and argue again."

"It won't happen, we don't mind, we're just going to get on with our jobs."
