12 Nov 2004 >> Westlife Snubbed By Band Aid
Irish boyband WESTLIFE have been snubbed in their attempt to join the all-star BAND AID III line-up.

Charity organiser MIDGE URE has reportedly decided to foresake their talents, but the MANDY hitmakers still haven't given up hope they will be asked to contribute to the re-recording of charity festive hit DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS?.

Singer NICKY BYRNE says, "I haven't heard much about it. Our manager LOUIS WALSH has been looking into it. If we can be involved it would be fantastic.

"These are records people remember for years. I was five or six years of age when the first Band Aid came about. I can still remember the concert at Wembley. I'd be very happy if Westlife could get involved."

However, it's claimed Ure is looking for a rockier sound than the pop feel of the 1984 original.
